3 Fitness Workouts To Try

We started this journey wanting to get in shape, improve our fitness and be a little more active. Reading this post, you may be at that very place. But with the fitness and health arena overflowing with so many exercise options, how do you decide which option is best for you? The answer is you won’t know until you pick one. But just in case you don’t know where to start, we can help you out.

Our group tested the following workouts, not because we scoured the internet to find them, but rather because someone had the DVDs collecting dust on their shelves and decided to dust them off, while another person had a subscription to a program that allowed her to workout at home using only what she had available – dumbbells. So we decided to use those. It’s really that simple.

Banish Fat Boost Metabolism

We found this an easy way for a beginner to jump into exercise and it’s also great for those of us who haven’t done anything remotely exercise related in a very long time. It’s low key, easy to do without requiring any equipment besides your own body weight. For less than $10 you get 30 minutes of guided ‘cardio’ exercises designed to get your heart rate up and challenge all those muscles that you’ve not been using.

As much as we love the guided exercises, we found that the repetition, makes it easy to get bored. And because there are no weights or equipment involved, once you’ve mastered the exercises, there is no ‘next level’ to progress to.

30 Day Shred

This program works for those always on a ‘schedule’ and want to get a quick but challenging workout done. It’s downloadable so you can always take it with you if you travel. The exercises are easy to follow with a designated person demonstrating a modified version of each one. It has 3 levels to progress to as your fitness improves and for just under 10 bucks it’s a steal.

While workouts are just under 30 minutes, as you progress to a higher level, the workload may feel too short and ‘not enough’.

Street Parking

This program is for the more seasoned person and can be done almost anywhere using whatever equipment is available. A different workout is posted each day of the week with varying progressions based on accessible equipment. The workouts typically range from 10 to 30 minutes and are measured for time, rounds and repetitions or maximum number of repetitions. It comes with an app that allows you to track workouts and compare scores with other users. Probably the most appealing thing about this program is the interactive and supportive online community available via private Facebook group and Instagram account.

This program is not suitable for someone brand new to exercise or who prefers to be guided through a workout. It assumes you have some knowledge of the exercises and have access to dumbbells at least. Exercise demonstrations are only viewable via the private Facebook group and Instagram account. The workouts are only accessible through an app and requires a $19 monthly subscription for continued usage.

  1. I really appreciate your step towards showing ways of how to get in shape. I am looking at starting with the Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, but are there not possible ways of getting over the boredom that comes with this cardio exercise? Thanks.

    1. Jerry, we’re stoked that you’re going to give Banish a shot. It’s an inexpensive way to get started. We wouldn’t focus on ‘getting bored’ just yet if you haven’t yet started. Get started and give it a real shot. Aim to do better each time you do a session until you can keep up with the exercises for the entire workout. That takes time. Set a timeline like say 3-4 weeks before you start looking for something more challenging.
